Meet Our Founder and Executive Director
Stephanie Ettiegne
Originally from Côte d'Ivoire, Stephanie moved to the U.S. in 2012 and quickly realized the challenges of navigating a new environment without a strong support system. Seeking mentorship and a safe space for women like herself, she founded Smart Sisters as a networking platform—one that has since evolved into a movement of sisterhood, empowerment, and transformation.
Under her leadership, Smart Sisters has expanded its reach, providing women with meaningful connections, confidence-building opportunities, and resources for both personal and professional development. Seeing the transformation in the women who engage with the community fuels her passion, and she envisions growing Smart Sisters into an even greater force for change—offering more opportunities, mentorship, and tools to help women thrive in every aspect of their lives.

Who We Are
OUR ROOTS
Our African heritage has significantly shaped the mission of Smart Sisters. Growing up in a culture that values community, resilience, and the strength of women, we’ve seen how collective support can uplift individuals and entire communities. This has inspired us to create a community that fosters sisterhood and empowers minority women, reflecting the values of unity and shared the growth we experience. Additionally, our background gives us a unique understanding of the challenges faced by women from underrepresented communities, particularly those from African backgrounds, driving our passion to provide the tools and support they need to succeed.
